We had our first light snowfall of the season today. It was so pretty but I hope the heavy snow holds off for another week or two because I work about 40 minutes from our home and I would rather not have to drive so far on snowy, icy roads. But that’s if I make it the next two weeks at work. I have been very uncomfortable lately and my few days a week at work had been harder and harder to get through. A lot of lower back aches, crampyness (is that even a word?), fatigue and headaches….can’t wait for this to be over so we can meet our little lady!
It has been a very busy, but productive, few weeks for us. Josh is in the middle of studying for finals, we just finished selling his car, had to attend the hospital’s birth education class this past weekend and I’m finishing up at work- the 18th is my last day. It seems like we have barely had time to breathe but it’s all worth it. Especially selling the second car- that is a huge weight off our shoulders. Once I stop working we don’t need 2 cars and losing that extra car payment each month is nice too!!
Of course we are also gearing up for little Leah’s arrival- hospital bags are being packed and I just ordered a few nursing nightgowns/pajamas. Who knew finding ones that are cute, AFFORDABLE and in my size would be so difficult. I know nursing a baby is not the most glamorous thing to do but it seems like I can’t be the only woman who wants to have something pretty to wear that is not outrageously expensive. I wonder why Victoria’s Secret does not have a line of pretty pajamas for nursing mothers? Seems like an untapped market….any moms out there have any suggestions….where did you buy nursing pajamas/loungewear? I tried Gap but they had a very small selection and only in larger sizes- that was very disappointing because I really loved a lot of their maternity clothes.
The birth class we went to was great and very informative- especially the car seat safety portion that was on Sunday. Although it was only on a doll, Josh changed his first diaper in the class and did a great job! We also practiced bathing the doll and he was great with that too- he had a really gentle touch that will be prefect for bathing his little girl! I had some difficulty with the swaddling and Josh helped me with that…what a natural! He is going to be the best dad!
Speaking of Leah we got another ultrasound picture of her last week but I haven’t posted it anywhere because it is really difficult to see. She is doing well and is in position! We could even see her diaphragm moving up and down and the doctor said that was a good sign because it means she is already practicing her breathing. I go back again on the 15th and then every week after that until the big day!
