With Josh working full time and attending law school part
time, it’s not often that he gets an entire day off to spend with us as a
family. So we were very excited
that had three days off (in a row!) from work and school this week! On Monday we decided to have a whole
“Family Day”.
Back when we were in Florida last month, my mom and I took
Leah to Downtown Disney to meet up with my cousin who was in Orlando for
work. One of the highlights of the
trip was rainforest Café but we also took Leah to a sort of “build a bear” type
store that was all about dinosaurs.
Leah loves dinosaurs so she picked out one to “build” but she got scared
at the stuffing station because the machine was loud, so we left without a
dinosaur. After her scare she said
“it’s ok, my Daddy will come with me, then I won’t be scared. My Daddy will do that part for me and I
won’t be scared”. When I told Josh
this he was determined to be the hero and take her to the regular
“Build-a-Bear” in Michigan and help get her a bear! We decided that “Family Day” would be the day!
After breakfast we drove through Dunkin Donuts to get mommy
and coffee and so Leah could have a little donut hole as a special treat. Then we headed to the nearest mall with
a “Build-a-Bear”. Unfortunately,
that location had recently closed!
Undeterred, Josh suggested we drive an additional 30 minutes to the next
mall! After taking care of some
iPod related issues at the Apple Store- we moved on to the next mall. On the way we planned to stop for lunch
at a famous Deli in Ann Arbor. We
parked walked ALL.THE.WAY to the deli only to find that there was no seating-
just counter service. (this day is
starting out with a lot of hiccups!)
So we walked ALL.THE.WAY back to the car and continued on to the
mall. We arrived, had some pizza
in the food court and finally made it to Build-a-Bear!
Leah picked out a bear and Josh helped her at the stuffing station. While waiting in line Leah was dancing around and made her way to one of the barriers in front of the checkout counter. She continued dancing…on the pole. Daddy was not impressed- luckily it wasn’t a long line and she was ready to pick out clothes for her bear. She couldn’t make up her mind, pajamas, doctor coat, boy’s outfit that resembled Dwight Schrute. She settled on a ballet skirt and princess t shirt. It was a blast and she is so proud of “bear”. Bear was chosen as a name after deciding between Peanut Butter, Toy or Salad- not sure if she understands yet what a true NAME is, LOL.
We ended the day with a relaxing dinner at home, so happy to
be together!
