Long run

I missed all my workouts and runs this week because Leah has been sick but she's on the mend now and just in time for my long run this Saturday.  The plan was for this weekend's long run of 9 miles to be the longest I will do before the half marathon June 9th.  I was a little intimidated because it was such a rough week (this was the first time since january that I have skipped a run) but I knew I could do it.  I often feel better on the longer runs because I think that psychologically it's easier to get in a groove when you know you'll be running for a looooong time.  About halfway through I forgot to turn my watch back on after stopping for a few seconds to have a sip of water.  I think it was off for about a 1/2 mile. The same thing happened during my long run last weekend but that time it was off for almost a mile (I think).  This time I was soooo disappointed because I like to have a solid record of my runs so I decided to run until the watch said 9 miles anyway, even if it meant adding another 1/2? mile.  I just REALLY wanted to see that 9 on the watch! Ha. (And ignore the 7.51 min pace, I really kicked it into high gear at the very end. Most of the time I was in the mid 11's)

Tomorrow is a rest day and then on Monday we're running in an 8k.  I'll be taking it slow since I'm using it just as a training run but it always more fun to run in a race!

By the way, how beautiful is that flag?!  And the sky was just so blue today.  We'll be taking Leah to the park later today to play and ride the ponies.
