Thomas the Train

We love Greenfield Village.  Imagine like a park, crossed with the America section of Epcot crossed with a little historic northeastern town.  That’s Greenfield Village.  It’s technically part of the Henry Ford Museum but has its own separate admission and events.

From Wikipedia:
The Henry Ford is the largest indoor-outdoor museum complex in America. Patrons enter at the gate, passing by the Josephine Ford Memorial Fountain and Benson Ford Research Center. Nearly one hundred historical buildings were moved to the property from their original locations and arranged in a "village" setting. The museum's intent is to show how Americans lived and worked since the founding of the country. The Village includes buildings from the 17th century to the present, many of which are staffed by costumed interpreters who conduct period tasks like farming, sewing and cooking. A collection of craft buildings such as pottery, glass-blowing, and tin shops provide demonstrations while producing materials used in the Village and for sale.

There are shops, little restaurants, a carousel, horse drawn carriage rides and train rides.  We go often and this time we had special tickets for the “Day Out With Thomas”.  They altered their usual train to look like Thomas and had lots of Thomas themed activities and merchandise.  We had a ball even though it was VERY unseasonable cold.  The temperature had been in the high 70’s but on Sunday it was only 46….and windy!  Awful.  (happy to report that it was 80 today!)  We took a ride on Thomas the Train, got Thomas balloons, toys, etc.  Leah was thrilled and had a ton of fun!  We are so happy that Josh’s parents were still here to enjoy it with us- we will be sad to see them go on Monday.

Mothers Day breakfast before heading to Greenfield Village

These pictures are from Monday morning- Josh brought home Krispy Kreme donuts and a hat for Leah (it really warms my heart when he comes home with little surprises for her like that- last week he came back form the community center with a flyer about childrens soccer)- love that guy!
